Do I have to register online in order to attend a class?
Yes. We request that all new clients register online, this enables us to collect important information regarding your health and previous exercise level to ensure we provide a safe exercise program for you.
We also require you to book for every class you intend on attending to ensure our trainers know how many clients are attending. We have a maximum number of clients in a session, and therefore our sessions can be booked out. This also enables our trainers to know if no one has booked, then the class will not run.
How do I redeem my ‘First session Free’?
Simply click on the ‘Bookings’ section of our website. You will then notice tabs in the top right hand corner of the screen, click on the ‘Online Store.’ Then select ‘Group Fitness’ or ‘Pilates Matwork’ from the drop down menu, and you will then see the option to click on the ‘First session Free’ item. You can then choose which location/session you would like to attend, and join the session.
Can I pay for a session when I come to a class?
Unfortunately no. We ask that all payments are made either online or over the phone, this way our trainers don’t have to worry about carrying cash.
What time do the classes start?
All our group fitness classes start at 9.30am. We understand that circumstances may prevent you from arriving on time (sleeping/hungry babies), we welcome you to come when you can. Please note, the session will always end 60 mins after the start time, despite late arrivals. You will be asked by the trainer to do a warm up, and then join in with the other Mums.
How long does each class go for?
Each class runs for a total of 60 minutes (except the 6am express classes).
How soon after giving birth can I attend ShapeUp Mums classes?
We ask that all Mums who have had a vaginal birth wait until their 6 week check-up with their doctor and confirm that it is safe for them to return to light exercise. For those Mums who have had a caesarean delivery we suggest waiting until 8-10 weeks. We also recommend that you make an appointment with a womens’ health physiotherapist and have a real time ultrasound to check your pelvic floor and transversus abdominis functionality.
We cater for all fitness levels and stages of recovery from birth, so contact us to discuss any concerns.
What should I bring to a class?
Your child/children. We welcome all infants and children to ShapeUp Mums classes. (Parents must understand that children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times throughout the class. The PT will endeavour to assist when possible, however they are not responsible for any children.)
A yoga mat/picnic rug – for you to exercise on and your children to sit and play on.
A drink bottle
Food and drink for your children (as required)
A pusher (if your child is likely to require a rest or sleep)
Hat and sunscreen or wet weather gear – for you and your children
What should I wear?
We suggest wearing normal gym attire (shorts/leggings/light track pants and a top). Always wear a supportive bra, if you are breastfeeding it might be worth investing in a supportive, wire free bra to exercise in.

Do I need a pram? Does it need to be a 3-wheeled pram?
No you do not need a pram. We suggest having a pram if you child is likely to need a sleep/rest during the class. We sometimes use prams during the class as an option, however this is only if they are available. It is definately not essential to have a 3-wheeled pram.
Can I bring my children? Is there an age limit?
Of course. We encourage Mums to bring their babies and children along to every class. There is no age limit, so school aged children can come along in School holidays too.
Do the classes get cancelled in cases of bad weather?
If it is lightly raining, classes will still be run. We choose locations that have undercover areas for children to rest/play. So children will be able to stay warm and dry under shelter. In cases of extremely bad weather (very heavy rain or thunderstorms) we will cancel the class no later than 1 hour prior to the session, and SMS all Mums who have enrolled in the session.
Do the classes get cancelled in cases of extremely hot weather?
Please see Shape Up Mums Heat Policy for information on when sessions will be cancelled due to the heat. If a session needs to be cancelled, this will be done no later than 1 hour prior to the session, and SMS all Mums who have enrolled in the session.
If my baby needs a feed or change during the session can I tend to them?
Of course! You are more than welcome to feed, change and tend to your child/children as required. Classes won’t stop for Mums to feed/change nappies, however you are very welcome to stop briefly and rejoin when you can.
Can I bring my partner along?
Yes. Please ensure that all partners have registered online so that they have completed the on-line pre-exercise questionnaire when they register. Partners must understand that classes cater for mothers, and some exercises are specifically designed to assist in the recovery from childbirth.
